The Misconception about Graphology

‘Graphology’ is made up of two words ‘Grapho + logy’, where ‘Grapho’ is about graphics, lines, letters or words and ‘logy’ means the study of words. I fail to understand why in the world people confuse it with Astrology. Words written by hand can only depict the status when they are written, but nothing about the past or future. So let us discuss in brief what ‘Graphology’ exactly is!

According to the handwriting analysts or graphologists, an individual’s nature or rather personality can be known with his/her handwriting. With the popularity of graphology i.e. handwriting analysis, has also come a major misconception about the same. Graphology is many times misconceived to be “astrology”.

Graphology is NOT Astrology

Astrology is a tool which tells something about an individual’s future or past life or destiny. Some of the commonly known methods are tarot card reading, palm reading and more such fortune telling practices.

Graphology on the other hand is a rare knack of analyzing an individual’s personality traits through handwritten scripts in any language. Graphologists study and analyze the handwritten contents as on that day and at that particular time.

Astrology and Graphology are nowhere related. They are probably like the north and south poles. Graphology cannot predict future, neither can it tells anybody’s fortune or life incidents. It is only and only about studying a handwriting with a focus on the formations like loops, slants, spaces, pressure etc. as written in that time. The graphology results may vary. For example- the handwriting of a same individual can reflect different characteristics at an age of 8 years and 18 years. Even handwriting of the same person during the day and night may show difference in the graphology results.

We must know that handwriting changes with the passage of time. It may also vary according to the mood fluctuations i.e. it may be different when a person is happy, sad or in pressure. This makes it clear to us that graphology is an answer to any question related to person, personality, behavior, mood swings etc.

To deviate a bit from the subject, listed here are some of the properties of graphology that will help you understand it more clearly:
  • No two people have similar writing and therefore the graphology report is unique for every individual
  • It is totally based on the writing, irrespective of the gender bias or discrimination like age and religion etc.
  • There are no chances of manipulation or fluctuation in the result as it is based on the written substance
I now hope that those reading this article have a thorough idea of Graphology and how it is different from Astrology.

Handwriting reveals kids’ inner anxiety

According to an article in Times of India, Kolkata, Handwriting reveals kids’ inner anxiety, dated August 24th, 2014 “At least 10 to 15% of the kids in a classroom are suffering from attention-related disorders, aggression and other psychological issues... Now, school counsellors have started linking such psychological aberrations with handwriting saying that the way kids write often reveals their innermost turmoil.”

It has therefore become important for schools and teachers that they should spot the problems in the child’s handwriting and seek remedies from experienced graphologists and handwriting experts.

Ms. Jhimli in her article says, “It's a complex situation and starts from the primary stage with bad handwriting. Children from the kindergarten stage are mandatorily put through a handwriting regimen, first through pattern drawing and then formation of letters and cursive writing. This follows an international format certified by the UNICEF which should help them develop a legible, if not beautiful, handwriting by the time they are well into the primary stage. But, typically, there would be some kids, about seven to eight in a class of 45, who are not able to grasp these techniques, not because of a learning disorder but because they are suffering from deep psychosomatic disorders. Kids are divided into two categories Y2 and Y6 for this. The former indicates kids who are about seven years old and the latter are for those who are 11 years old. By the time they reach the Y2 stage, kids should be able to display a certain threshold of handwriting consistency, though the desired neatness happens at the Y6 stage. Children, who are still sloppy after Y6, are naturally displaying inner disturbance and need immediate psycho mapping and therapy, it is believed.”

What are your views on the subject? Don’t you feel the need to get the illegible and sloppy handwritings of your kids rectified by professionals? If you answer it affirmative, contact Write Right, world’s largest chain of handwriting institutes. Students with illegible handwriting score lesser in exams

Researches from top universities state that those with poor handwriting struggle in their academics. It requires more brain power to be able to put down words on a paper. This is directly proportional to the ability to present thoughts, come up with innovative ideas and choose the correct vocabulary while speaking and writing.

Another predominating fact highlighted by the Warwick University is that that boys tend to have poorer handwriting than that of girls.

How do teachers respond to poor handwriting?

Through several years of experience in the field of handwriting, Write Right has discovered (after discussing with thousands of teachers) that knowingly or unknowingly teachers are likely to evaluate answer sheets being biased. Answer sheets which are hard to decipher involve larger efforts and time. Moreover, words or sentences can be misunderstood affecting the loss of marks in one or more questions. Teachers may overlook or give up on poorly written papers and for this reason such answer sheets receive low scores and grades.

What is the solution to score more with good handwriting?

The Un-ignorable (handwritten) Post-it Notes

Whether a student, or a professional, a house-wife or anyone, using a post-it note is common in all of them. I realize that technology never lets us down by any means and has the solution to all our requirements (related to writing), but still managing short term (or long terms) goals on post-it sticky notes somehow feels more efficient. Do you second the same?

Some people love to remember dates, some have to maintain a wide list of works to be done on a particular day and some just have to list down the grocery items they got to buy while returning back home. Using a PC or downloading a whole new app on my phone just to do this, is that what your idea is? Well… it’s not mine! I have and would rather always prefer to use post it notes and stick them on my walls, wardrobes or work-station. So, that whenever I put my eyes on them (even by a chance), I would remember what was I supposed to do when, where did I have to go on a particular day, which lessons I had to prepare etc. I certainly believe, similar is the case with many others.

And… people think technology has over powered the ancient art of writing in hand. Well no. Handwriting will still be a part of our first lesson in schools and it will be always be a foundation of education.

Write Right, a largest chain of handwriting institutes has been working on serving the masses with good handwriting skills since over 16 years. It even preserves ancient forms like calligraphy by training the students across the globe. To know more, visit www.writerightindia.com.

Art of taking short notes in class (lectures)

Taking notes in a classroom is extremely important, but at the same time it can be quite tedious. Not everyone is good at taking notes during a class or a lecture. And if that is the case, one should necessarily learn the art of taking notes, rather short notes in a classroom.

How to take short notes?

Consider the following pointers to effectively take notes in a classroom without missing the highlights of the lesson.

·         Jot down the most important points
While the lecture is on, it may not be feasible to note each and every word that is being explained to you. But, what is necessary is you take all the points that carry importance. Of course the right sequence (or the hierarchy) of the topic has to be maintained at any time.

·         Write in a way that elaboration becomes easy
Once you have noted all the points, make sure that they carry enough value so as to be elaborated in detail on the subject of study. Unless it can be clearly explained to others (or to oneself), in detail, it may not be considered valuable for learning.

·         Give it your own essence
Any individual takes notes to be able to refer them in future. Your notes should be such that they are well understood to yourself and are suitable to simplify your learning experience. Do not try to imitate others and write in a way that is friendly to you.

What will be most beneficial while taking the notes in a class? It is the speed with which one writes…

Can speed writing help?

Yes! Speed writing is immensely beneficial to take down short notes. A student should essentially be a good listener to be able to write in speed. Also, the content written should be such that it can be expanded for later use. This obviously requires a good memory too. Speed writing courses trains students’ to imbibe all of the above mentioned qualities.

Join the speed writing course today at Write Right and enhance your classroom performance. Score more in exams by getting the right handwriting tips from experts.
